Life at Dunwoody

Life at Dunwoody can be tranquil, fast-paced, or both – it's up to you. Below are some highlights of Village life. With so many choices, it's easy to live the life you want.

Activities

  • Live entertainment is scheduled monthly. Past performances include violinists, ballet troupes, vocalists and unique multicultural performances like a recent visit from an Indian dance troupe.

  • For those who wish to continue their education, programs like wellness programs, lectures and cultural trips are scheduled throughout the year. Dunwoody residents may also participate in continuing education classes at the many local colleges and universities.

  • Local and regional trips are planned for those wishing to explore southeastern Pennsylvania's many cultural, historic and scenic venues. Trips to new exhibits at the Philadelphia Art Museum, the Brandywine Valley attractions, the local shopping malls and the Philadelphia Orchestra have been popular. Transportation is provided on handicapped-accessible buses, driven by our professional drivers. Overnight trips to New York, Virginia, and other areas also take place on a regular basis.

  • More than 20 clubs and committees are active throughout the Village. These include the Residents Association, the Building & Grounds Committee, the Finance Committee and the Medical Review Committee. These committees help manage the administrative aspects of the Village and provide an important link between residents and staff. Several hobby-based clubs such as needlepoint, model trains, and gardening also meet regularly.

  • Special events are planned for major holidays and provide a festive air around the Village. Recent events include a Valentine's Day Tea, a December Holiday party and a New Year's Eve party.

  • Residents and staff collaborate on the planning of parties, both formal and informal. Recent parties include a Kentucky Derby party and live musical entertainment in the garden.

Facilities

  • Housekeeping and maintenance services are available for both light and heavy housekeeping.

  • Elegant communal spaces and interior walkways mean residents can travel from place to place easily and safely during inclement weather.

  • The fitness center (with trainer) and pool are open year-round for those wishing for daily exercise.

  • Shuttle buses provide transportation for organized tours and trips as well as individual doctor's appointments and errands.

  • A newly-upgraded computer facility provides residents with a "virtual" link to family, friends and information.

  • The on-site post office, library and hair salon open during the week for your convenience.

  • Our on-site physician and services provide a convenient means for routine check-ups and medical care.

Dining

  • Three different dining facilities with specific menus and atmospheres provide dining options for all tastes and lifestyles. Residents may choose from the beautiful formal Dining Room, the casual Terrace Dining Room or the cafeteria-style Coffee Shop.

  • The two dining rooms are staffed by local high school students, who bring a daily dose of young culture to the Village.

  • Menus change daily. They are designed to reflect the changing of the seasons, and provide for a variety of nutritional needs and tastes. Registered dieticians are available for special needs.
